Dear Dr. Gold,
Thank you for your paper with its synopsis of certain aspects of the modern Russian-Ukrainian theory of deep, abiotic petroleum origins. We are grateful for your interest in Russian science.
The natural replenishing of oil and gas fields has indeed been a subject of study, discussion, and planning among Russian petroleum scientists and workers for a number of years. The keynote speaker at this conference, Professor R. Kh. Muslimov, has written much on this topic, as you must know.
Your paper cannot be included among those of this conference because the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Organizing Committee require that submitted papers be original, instead of a review type. Also, the Russian Academy of Sciences requires that proper credit be given for references. For example, although you refer to Russian and other thermodynamicists, which should include Aigenson, Boiko, Chekaliuk, Karpov, Kenney, Stefanik, you do not cite the specific works with which you are familiar. The thermodynamic basis of modern Russian petroleum science is especially important and is also the subject of the principle invited address of this conference. Similarly, the Figure 1of your paper contains the well-known pressure-depth behaviour first described by Anikiev, but no credit or citation of his work is present. The particular works with which you are familiar must always be given proper credit.
Thank you for your interest in Russian petroleum science.
Sincerely yours,
for the Organizing Committee,
International Petroleum Conference Commemorating N. A. Kudryavstev
